Who we are
Here's the deal, Powerhouse of Praise and Deliverance stands firm in creating a NO JUDGEMENT ZONE for ALL. PHOP is a family of individuals that have found hope in God, and simply want as many people as possible to experience that exact same freedom.
Where we come from

Towanda Armstrong, a former native of Chicago, IL, was the visionary founder of Powerhouse of Praise & Deliverance. She received her call to ministry in 1997 and relocated to Radcliff, Kentucky in 1998, where she played a key role in organizing the ministry. In 2000, Apostle Towanda began holding services in the back of her beauty salon, Chi-Town Creations, in Radcliff. After a brief period at Fellowship Hub City Lounge in 2001, the church moved into its first building under the name New Age Outreach Mission for Christ. By 2004, God led the ministry to a new season, renaming it Powerhouse of Praise & Deliverance to reflect its mission of being a beacon of light in the community.
In 2006, Apostle Towanda and her congregation faced a challenging season when they were without a church building. For an entire year, services were held in the park, embodying their mission as a church without walls. However, in 2007, they secured a new building on Dixie Highway, where they also opened the first-ever homeless shelter in Hardin County. The ministry continued to grow and in 2017, moved to its current location at 1105 Woodland Dr. in Elizabethtown.
Apostle Towanda was an anointed state-wide speaker, playwright, teacher, and counselor. She also founded The R.E.C. (Reaching Every Child) Center, dedicated to supporting youth in the community. She earned her Associate’s degree in Human Services in 2013, a Bachelor’s in Psychology/Counseling in 2016, and a Master’s degree in the same discipline in 2022.
On March 5th, she released her first book, He Interrupted My Dream with Destiny. Apostle Towanda transitioned to be with the Lord on March 15th, 2023, leaving behind six children and four grandchildren. Spiritually, she was known for her radical faith and charismatic leadership. As a “Radical Pastor with Crazy Faith,” she led a powerful prophetic ministry for 21 years, emphasizing prophecy and deliverance as guided by the Holy Spirit. Her life and ministry touched countless individuals in profound and extraordinary ways.
Where we're headed
At Powerhouse of Praise & Deliverance, we are committed to giving back to our community and growing our ministry to teach the truth of God's word as it is intended. As we move forward together as a church family, we hold inclusion and transparency at the core of our beliefs, striving to create an environment where everyone feels welcome and valued. Our mission is not only to serve those within our congregation but also to reach beyond the walls of our church by expanding our online presence, allowing us to touch lives and share the message of hope with individuals near and far. We are excited for the future, knowing that through God's guidance, we will continue to grow and serve in new and meaningful ways.
